UCONN Men's Basketball wins National Championship

If anyone watched the National Championship on Monday between Butler and UCONN, we could all agree that it was not a very exciting game.  The Huskies beat the Bulldogs 53-41 which gave them their 3rd national championship in school history.  Butler's shooting percentage was a cold 18% for the game, which is the worst in a national championship game yet only making 12 of 64 shots!  That is unbelievable!  Butler only scored 41 points which is also the lowest amount of points scored in National Championship history since 1959.  Jim Calhoun, UCONN's head coach, is the oldest coach in NCAA history to win a national championship.  He currently is 68 years old and will continue to coach the Huskies next year, despite being suspended for the first three games next season due to recruting violations.  Did any of you watch the game? What did you think?

  1. Was a boring game, I actually turned the channel several times and eventually decided not to even watch it. Congrats to UCONN and Jim Calhoun, he definitely is a great coach. Can't wait for next year!

  2. I had Butler winning this game before it was played. It only took me a few minutes into the first half to change my mind. Butler just seemed off to me. Their D wasn't too solid at first, UCONN was getting good looks but weren't finishing. Besides with their shooting percentage, Butler was gonna have a hard time winning.

  3. Off is an understatement, they were awful. THe game did get to the point where I could barely watch it either. It is a shame that the most exciting tournament in the history of March Madness had to end with such a terrible ending. Still cannot wait until next year.

  4. You know it's a terrible game when you're sitting on the couch watching, and you say to yourself, "This game is setting the sport of basketball back about 40 years". That's the feeling I had watching this game. Just awful, on both sides.

  5. Easily the worst National Championship I've ever watched. Both teams played sloppy the entire game. I remember sitting on the couch in the beginning of the first half talking smack with my buddies, "Butler will heat up soon, they just need to get the jitters out of the way then they'll start knocking down everything." Never happened. 12 of 64 shooting? C'mon, that's flat out embarrassing..
