Finally, after much debate Carmelo Anthony has been traded to the New York Knicks and is expected to sign a three year, 65 million dollar extension. The deal includes the Knicks sending five other players to the Denver Nuggets and apparently will receive other picks. Reports have been made that the Nuggets will receieve two second-round selections. The Nuggets wanted to trade Anthony after he refused to sign the three year extension they offered during the summer of 2010 and he ended up landing with the Knicks. Anthony will be sporting a new jersey number since his previously worn number 15 is since retired in New York two times. What do you all think of the trade?
I think its a great trade for the Knicks by adding a bonifide star to play along side Amare Stoudimire. As for Nuggets it was a trade they had to make. It was clear Melo didnt want to be there anymore and was gonna opt out at the end of the year if he wasnt traded. Although they got the short end of stick losing by Melo and Chauncey Billups, it gives them a chance to start a new ear post Melo. They recieved a lot more then the Cavaliers did when LeBron James bolted for Miami. At least they recieved quality players that can play now and didnt lose Melo at the end of the season for nothing. I think the sleeper and key to this deal is the addition of Chauncey Billups. Not only did they get a star in Melo but a premier point gurad in Billups. Sooner than later the Knicks will be in the same category as the Heat and Celtics as the best in the east.
